BUILD AND BBQ w/ Phil Lesh and Friends.....
July 5,6,7,8...2007
Unbroken Chain Foundation
invites you to join us for a hands-on project for Homeward Bound of Marin.
The Project:
Homeward Bound of Marin provides temporary shelter for families in need.
Their shelter is located in San Rafael in a converted motel.
Families stay between one to four months. Many of the children are not enrolled in a local school and
need a place to go during the day. Homeward Bound provides a teacher for a classroom that serves children from Pre-School through High School. They serve approximately 15 children per week.
The shelter had one classroom for the children in an adjacent motel which has been recently sold.
Now they need to move and create a new classroom.
Our mission will be to convert a room into a small but attractive and functional classroom.
Here's how you can help:
You can join us on this worthwhile project by helping UBC buy materials,
supplies and furnishing and pitch in to do the refurbishing of the room.
We're looking for no more than 24 people to help (8 per day on July 5, 6, 7).
We're also asking for $250.00 (per person / per day) to help pay for the costs of this project.
It's not all work:
On July 8th those of you who have joined our project are invited to an
intimate party from 5:00 to 10:00 P.M. at a beautiful private residence in Marin.
There you will enjoy adult beverages and a barbeque chicken dinner. (Veggie burger optional).
After dinner, relax and enjoy some music with Phil and some of his great friends.
If you join the project you may bring one additional, non working, person to the party.
The cost for your guest is $125.00
You need to know:
It's work (we estimate approximately 5 or 6 hours each day).
Tasks include: skilled painters (artistically inclined a +), carpentry, laying 12' by 12" floor tiles,
installing cabinets, deep cleaning, hanging light fixtures, making and/or hanging curtains,
general labor, errands, coffee, heavy duty handy person skills, power washer.
Are you a really great paint scraper or sidewalk washer?
We can use you! You'll probably get dirty!
Please note:
You will need to bring a lunch on your day, UBC will provide water.
Selection of participants is solely at the discretion of Unbroken Chain Foundation. Those selected will be notified by phone and/or email. Please include as many ways to contact you as possible.
Any and all travel, lodging, and other expenses are
the sole responsibility of those chosen to help with the project.
Neither Phil Lesh, Cygnus Productions, or Unbroken Chain Foundation will be responsible for any delays or inability to attend the event due to travel arrangements, weather or other circumstances. By volunteering for this project you also agree to release and hold harmless Phil Lesh, Cygnus Productions, Unbroken Chain Foundation, Homeward Bound of Marin and/or the property owner for any injury to you, without limitation, that may occur in the course of your work on the project. You may be asked to sign a specific liability waiver on the day of the project. If you are under 18 you will need to have a parent or guardian sign any waiver required.
Here's how to sign up:
Send a brief email to bbq@phillesh.net
Tell us why you'd like to help and what skills you can bring to the project.
(Most any skills are welcome).
